Covering or protecting these pipes somehow needs to happen ASAP – incidents like this keep happening more and more often.
On the bright side, the 9 core control cable lying next to the pipe was undamaged. Also, fixing the breach was quicker and easier due to the mainline being set up as a ring split into segments by isolation valves. The valves allow damage to be contained and fixed without disabling and draining the whole system.
