Discover a Weekly Oasis for Homeschooling Families

Connect with other homeschooling families and share resources and experiences in a supportive environment.

Nestled in the charming coastal area of Salir do Porto, our weekly homeschool meet-ups offer more than just a gathering—they’re a vibrant ecosystem where families thrive, children flourish, and learning happens naturally through exploration and connection.

Each Friday afternoon transforms our spacious homestead into a gathering for homeschooling families seeking community, inspiration, and the joy of watching children forge their own paths to discovery. Against the backdrop of garden trails, visiting wildlife, and the distant sound of waves, children and parents alike find their place in a supportive community that understands the unique journey of home education.

    Join us for:

Free play in our spacious garden

Board games for all ages (bring your favorites!)

Sports (Soccer is a favorite!) and outdoor activities

Exploration of our large plot with resident ducks and geese

Occasional special activities like music sessions, origami, or bread-making by the bonfire

    Community Connection

Children build friendships with other homeschooled kids while parents create their own support network. Both children and adults benefit from the instant community that forms each week.

    Child-Led Learning Environment

The relaxed setting allows children to follow their interests, learn from each other across different ages, and develop social skills in an unhurried, natural environment.

    Resource Sharing

Families exchange ideas, curriculum recommendations, teaching approaches, and solutions to common homeschooling challenges, enriching everyone’s educational journey.

    FAQ

Want to know more before joining? Read below or just ask us!

What ages thrive at these meet-ups?

While all ages are welcome, most regular attendees are between 4-12 years old. The beauty of our gatherings is watching how different ages interact—younger children rise to new challenges while older children develop patience and leadership. Teens occasionally join and often find meaningful roles helping younger children or engaging in more sophisticated games and conversations.

    What should we bring?

Weather-appropriate clothing (including sun protection or rain gear depending on forecast), any snacks your family might enjoy, water bottles, and favorite board games if you wish to share. We provide basic outdoor equipment, some games, and occasional special materials for planned activities.

What if the weather doesn't cooperate?

We embrace the saying that “there’s no bad weather, only inappropriate clothing!” That said, we do have covered spaces and indoor options for extremely rainy days. Weather adaptations are communicated via our WhatsApp group before each meet-up.

Do parents stay during the meet-up?

Yes, this is designed as a family experience where parents remain present. Some parents actively engage in games or activities while others use the time to connect with other adults. Either approach works beautifully—the key is that children sense the supportive adult community around them.

Is there a cost to attend?

No, these meet-ups are offered freely as our family’s contribution to building a stronger homeschooling community. We believe in the power of these connections and prioritize accessibility for all families.

    How regular is attendance?

Families attend as their schedules allow—some come every week, others monthly, and some drop in occasionally. This flexibility is part of what makes the community work so well. There’s no expectation of perfect attendance, just a warm welcome whenever you can join.
