That's also how we divide when foraging berries on our morning walks around the quinta. One for you, one for me, one for you..

But then we look around, and life complicates the maths a little. What if one child loves berries and is really hungry, while the other barely likes them? What if, after eating one or two, one of the children gets a tummy ache?

Suddenly, splitting things exactly equally doesn't feel like the fairest answer anymore. This is where the quinta experience becomes just as rich as the Montessori material itself: we don't stop at the maths, we stay with the question. What is fair, really? Is it always the same for everyone? And who decides?
