Taking this as a sign to start cutting them. The ducks and geese love eating the leaves.

There seems to be conflicting advice about when to cut it, with many people saying to leave it for the first year in order to establish a strong root system.

We're following the advice from Lawrence Hill's book instead, who insists that regular cutting encourages a stronger plant and higher yields.
